Mayor's Court Information
In 333 towns throughout the state of Ohio, the mayor or designee dispenses local justice. Ohio allows "Mayor’s courts" to hear minor cases in cities and villages that do not have their own municipal court. A mayor with legal training can preside over cases but when the Mayor does not have legal training the Mayor will delegate the responsibility to a lawyer. Milan's Mayor's Court is lead by a magistrate. The majority of mayor's court cases -- over 84 percent – are traffic tickets. Mayor's Court is held each week Monday at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Room of the Administration Building, 11 S. Main Street, Milan.
