Milan Administration Committees, Boards and Commissions
Committees, Boards and Commissions
Photo of a small crowd gathering in Historic Milan Ohio The Mayor with approval of Council appoints residents to fill positions on various committees, boards and commissions. Additionally, the Mayor at the first meeting of each year appoints various Council members to Committee positions. The Council persons are charged with understanding the respective Village activities and being Council’s knowledge expert in the given areas.
Standing Council Committees include
John Fox and David Jenkins sit on the Streets, Sidewalk and Sewers Committee.

David Jenkins and Art Dickman fill the Safety Committee positions.

Nina Kovesdi and Lois Wolf are the members of the Finance Committee.

John Fox and David Jenkins are members of the Regional Planning and Building Codes Committee. In this role, John Fox is also the Village’s delegate to the Erie Regional Planning with David Jenkins acting as his alternate.

The Utilities Committee is made up of Art Dickman and Nina Kovesdi.

Richard Maloney serves as the Council’s Civic Contacts and Historical Committee.

The Erie County Council of Governments delegate is Art Dickman with John Fox as his alternate.
Standing Boards and Commissions include
Planning Commission. This five member commission meets on an as needed basis. The current members include three (3) residents; John Batchelor, Joe Barone and Jenny Henry Bobel, along with the Mayor and Councilman Richard Maloney.

Zoning Board of Appeals. This five member board is entirely staffed by residents and meets on an as needed basis. The current Board is led by Chairman Dan Frederick and includes members Stan Roberts, Jim Schoenegge, Bob Gliatta and Larry Schell.

Property Maintenance Board. This five member board meets on an as needed basis. The current members include three (3) residents; Gregg Muehling, George Bogan and Chris Tatem, along with the Mayor and Councilman Art Dickman.

Tree Commission. The commission is made up of five residents and meets on an as needed basis. The current members include David Berckmueller, Martha Berckmueller, Nate Leimeister, Chris Gilliam and Candy Draeger.

Records Commission. The commission is made up of one resident and members of the Village administration and is charged with adopting policies and procedures to ensure the handling of the Village’s records following records retention policy as required by the State of Ohio. Mary Basterash represents the residents on the Commission. Other members include a Utility Clerk, Fiscal Officer, Solicitor and the Administrator representing the Mayor.

We encourage you to participate. Residents are encouraged to participate in their local government by volunteering for positions on the various boards and commissions.
