JOB OPPORTUNITY:

ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT SUPERINTENDENT, VILLAGE OF MILAN

The Village of Milan is looking for a competent individual to head its Electric Department. Applicant must possess thorough knowledge of the construction, operation and maintenance of an electric distribution system, substations and its related facilities and equipment. Starting wage will range from $31,200 to $56,160 depending on experience. MEETING TIME CHANGED

The Village of Milan's regular Council meetings for the months of June, July and August 2013 will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Village will resume regular Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday's of the month at 7:00 p.m. beginning in September 2013.

NEW REQUIREMENT FOR REPAIRING OR REPLACING ROOFS

Beginning April 1, 2013 the Villlage of Milan's Building Department (Huron Township) started the Roof Replacement schedule. Huron Township started this Roof Replacement Schedule for two reasons. First, the Ohio Basic Building Standard recommends that they do inspections on new and/or repaired or replaced roofs. Second, they have had numerous complaints from owners that felt their roofs were not done properly. TREE BRANCH CLEARING FROM ELECTRICAL LINES

A professional electric line clearing crew from AMP Ohio, has been hired to remove the tree branches from power lines within the Village. This work is being done to help prevent power outages during wind storms and heavy snow fall. Al Siewert, the Village Arborist met with the AMP Ohio electric line clearing crew prior to this year's clearing of electric lines. Al accompanied the crew on its first few trees to show them what the Village expects from them as it pertains to trimming.

NEW ROOF INSTALLED ON THE GAZEBO IN THE VILLAGE SQUARE

Village employees removed the old roofing materials. The new shingles along with the labor to install them were donated to the Village.

A special thank you to Mark Hyde with CertainTeed Inc. for donating the materials needed. A special thank you also to Eric Quillen with J & E Roofing from Milan for installing the shingles at no cost to the Village.

VILLAGE OF MILAN INCOME TAX

As tax season is approaching, please remember the Village of Milan has a 1% income tax. Your income tax can be E-Filed at www.ritaohio.com.

GRANT MONEY AVAILABLE FOR ASH TREE REMOVAL

Grant money is available through the ODNR for the removal of Ash trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer. The grant will pay up to 40% of the cost to remove trees on private property. Applications are available at the Village of Milan Administration building and at the Milan Library.

EFFICIENCY SMART ADDS NEW RESIDENTIAL REBATE

Efficiency Smart, Milan's partner in providing energy efficiency services to our utility customers, has added four new products to its residential rebate offerings. Nearly $500 is available to our residential utility customers for purchasing eligible products, including: $15 rebates on select Energy Star qualified ceiling fans with lights-NEW! $25 rebates on dehumidifiers-NEW! $50 rebates on select Energy Star qualified refrigerators and clothes washers, $100 on qualified furnace fans with electronically commutated motors (ECM)-NEW! and $250 rebates on select Energy Star heat pump water heaters-NEW! You may also now choose to receive a free 4-pack f 60-watt equivalent compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) with your rebate check simply by checking yes on the rebate form.
